Alternative rock band Live is facing renewed legal turbulence after former members issued a cease and desist order claiming frontman Ed Kowalczyk does not have the legal right to perform under the band’s name. The former members argue that the trademarks and intellectual property tied to Live are owned by their company, Action Front Unlimited.
The dispute is the latest chapter in a long-running legal battle that dates back to 2008, when Kowalczyk departed the band. Since then, multiple lawsuits have unfolded among the members over naming rights and control of the Live brand.
Despite the cease and desist, Kowalczyk is moving forward with plans to tour across Canada under the name +LIVE+ as part of the Like A Rollin’ Thunder Tour, which will feature several other rock acts. The situation adds another layer of controversy to a band whose legacy continues to resonate with fans decades after their rise.
