When Chasta from 107.7 The Bone first heard about Girls on the Run Bay Area, she was blown away. As a lifelong runner and host of Rock Your Life, she immediately connected with the program’s blend of movement, empowerment, and positivity.
On the podcast, she talks with Jess Carey, a longtime volunteer and associate board member, about how the 8–10 week program teaches girls in grades 3–8 life skills alongside running — from goal-setting and resilience to conflict management and giving meaningful compliments.
Chasta was struck by the reflection exercises built into each session and the focus on building character, not speed. She also loved hearing how families get involved as “running buddies” during the celebratory 5K, making the program a true community experience. Inspired by the stories of young runners and their families, Chasta highlights how Girls on the Run doesn’t just build stronger athletes — it helps young women grow into confident, capable humans.
