A newly published forensic analysis has reignited controversy around the 1994 death of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, with independent investigators claiming evidence could point to homicide rather than suicide. The team, including researcher Michelle Wilkins and forensic specialist Brian Burnett, argue that autopsy details, toxicology levels and crime-scene inconsistencies suggest Cobain may have been incapacitated before being shot and that the death was staged to look like suicide.
Despite these assertions, the King County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Seattle Police Department have reaffirmed that the case remains closed and the official ruling of suicide stands, stating no new evidence has emerged to justify reopening the investigation.
The debate highlights ongoing fascination with Cobain’s tragic passing more than three decades after his death.
