Josh Freese is speaking candidly about his departure from Foo Fighters, which happened roughly nine months ago. While the firing came as a surprise—Freese says he found out while spending time with friends connected to A Perfect Circle and Primus—he insists that “no one should feel sorry for me.”
Freese described his time with Foo Fighters as positive and said he respects Dave Grohl as “a drummer first and foremost.” Despite the abrupt end, there’s no bitterness in his tone.
Shortly after his exit, Freese rejoined Nine Inch Nails and is currently touring with them. He’s also juggling work with A Perfect Circle and studio sessions for other artists—proving that in the world of elite rock drummers, the beat never really stops.
