Fatboy Slim’s bootleg recording “Satisfaction Skank,” which samples the Rolling Stones’ “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction,” has been officially released after 25 years with the band’s approval.
Mick Jagger initially liked the mix, but the Stones’ management repeatedly denied clearance for the sample until they eventually relented, providing the original parts of “Satisfaction” to rebuild the track.
The Stones’ decision to approve the sample mirrors their gesture in 2019 when they relinquished their rights to the Verve’s “Bitter Sweet Symphony” after a legal dispute over a sample from their song “The Last Time.”
The Rolling Stones have been keeping a relatively low profile since their 2023 album and 2024 tour, with guitarist Ronnie Wood hinting at another album in the works.
Fatboy Slim, also known as Norman Cook, continues to be active in the music scene, hosting festivals, planning concerts, and publishing the book “It Ain’t Over ‘Til the Fatboy Sings.”
