The Grateful Dead have received the Guinness World Records title for the most Top 40 albums charted on the US Billboard 200, with a total of 66 Top 40 albums.
David Lemieux, Grateful Dead legacy manager and archivist, attributes the record to the dedication, passion, and loyalty of the band’s fans, the Dead Heads, as well as the consistent quality of the Grateful Dead’s recorded output over the past six decades.
Mark Pinkus, President of Rhino Records, expresses excitement about the milestone and highlights Rhino’s commitment to preserving and honoring the Grateful Dead’s legacy through archival releases.
The band’s Guinness World Records achievement coincides with a year of significant recognition, including being part of the 47th class of Kennedy Center Honorees and being named the 2025 MusiCares Persons of the Year.
Rhino Records also released the Grateful Dead’s first official greatest hits compilation, “Gratest Hits,” a 60-CD collection titled “Enjoying the Ride,” and The Music Never Stops box set as part of the band’s 60th-anniversary celebrations.
