Megadeth has released “I Don’t Care” as the second single from their upcoming final album, set to be released on January 23rd.
Dave Mustaine described the song as a way to express a common sentiment: “How many times have you wanted to say this to someone? I know you want to! Deep down inside, if we had the balls, we would tell more people, ‘I don’t care’ more often.”
The genesis of the song began during the recording sessions for Megadeth’s previous album, The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!, with Mustaine mentioning that part of the main riff had been in his head since then.
Mustaine highlighted the intricate guitar work in “I Don’t Care,” praising the guitar nuances, down-picking parts, octave chords, and the soloing between him and Teemu Mäntysaari.
Megadeth is also preparing for a global farewell tour, which may last up to five years, starting in 2026.
