Sammy Hagar and Jay Buchanan performed together at the Stage Red Fontana Youth Music Foundation’s gala, delivering a set that included a heartfelt rendition of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Simple Man” dedicated to their mothers.
The event aimed to empower local youth by providing funding for instruments, resources, and music education opportunities, with the Kaiser High School Marching Band leading a spirited procession to kick off the night.
The Grammy Museum Grants Program announced it would send two local Fontana students to Grammy Camp, offering them a chance to explore their musical passions at a higher level.
Sammy Hagar praised the event, stating, “Was great to have another homeboy Jay Buchanan there to help raise funds for young musicians from our hometown.”
Jay Buchanan, the frontman of Rival Sons, began his musical journey in Fontana and will release his sixteenth studio album and first solo record, “Weapons Of Beauty,” in January.
