Thrash metal legends MEGADETH have revealed that their upcoming LP will be the band’s final studio album. The announcement came alongside the news of a brand-new single, “Tipping Point,” arriving Friday, October 3 with an official music video.
Frontman Dave Mustaine shared in a press release that ending the band’s career on their own terms feels like the right moment:
“Most musicians don’t get to go out on top, and that’s where I’m at in my life right now. The hardest part is saying goodbye, but we can’t wait for you to hear this album and see us on tour. Don’t be mad, don’t be sad—be happy for us. Come celebrate with us.”

The farewell world tour will launch in 2026, with initial dates to be announced later this year. Fans can register now at Megadeth’s official website for early access to updates and exclusive offers.
The new record, produced by longtime collaborator Chris Rakestraw, will arrive via Mustaine’s Tradecraft imprint in partnership with Frontiers Label Group’s new BLKIIBLK label. It follows 2022’s The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!—a top 3 Billboard 200 album.
With guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari now locked into the lineup alongside drummer Dirk Verbeuren and bassist James LoMenzo, MEGADETH is preparing for a monumental send-off after four decades of shaping heavy metal.
Their journey began in 1983 after Mustaine’s split from Metallica, leading to a catalog of thrash classics like Peace Sells… But Who’s Buying? and Rust In Peace, and Billboard-charting triumphs such as Countdown To Extinction and Dystopia.
The end of MEGADETH may be near, but as Mustaine says, the legacy will live forever:
“We started a revolution. We changed the guitar world. And we changed the world.”
