Nirvana fans have a chance to own a piece of rock history. Previously unseen video footage from the band’s 1990 concert in Tijuana, Mexico, is now up for auction.
The lot features over 45 minutes of raw footage captured on two original master Sony Video 8 tapes, filmed from two different cameras during the live show. Also included are two Sony mini DV tapes with digital transfers, a portable SSD hard drive containing digitized raw footage and edited versions of the concert, as well as a U.S. Copyright Office Certificate of Registration.
Collectors will also find an original Nirvana tour poster and a rare first Sub Pop pressing of the band’s debut album Bleach on white vinyl.
The Tijuana concert is particularly notable for Kurt Cobain’s chaotic performance, which saw him smash two guitars on stage — his homemade pink “Mustang” guitar and a 1970s Gibson SG. For fans and collectors alike, this auction represents a rare opportunity to own a slice of Nirvana’s explosive early years.
