Alanis Morissette has received an honorary doctorate from the University of Ottawa, celebrating both her legendary music career and her commitment to women’s empowerment and human integrity on every level — physical, psychological, and spiritual.
The university shared photos of Alanis in full graduation robes, praising her as “one of the world’s brightest stars for her timeless and original work” across the past 30 years.
For her part, Alanis described the honor as a recognition of her “decades of study and research and clinical trainings and channeling and obsession about our human condition(s).”
During the ceremony, Morissette also delivered a heartfelt speech, reflecting on her artistic journey and the causes closest to her heart.
