Rick Davies, co-founder of the legendary rock band Supertramp, has died at the age of 81 at his home in Long Island. Known for his soulful voice and piano-driven songwriting, Davies was the creative force behind some of Supertramp’s most iconic tracks. The band’s 1974 breakthrough album Crime of the Century introduced classics like “Bloody Well Good” and the title track, both showcasing his unique style. Over the years, Davies penned enduring hits such as “Goodbye Stranger,” “Cannonball,” and “My Kind of Lady,” cementing his place in rock history.
Though he first gravitated toward the drums, Davies found his true musical calling with the piano. Before Supertramp, he formed Rick’s Blues with Gilbert O’Sullivan and later played with the Lonely Ones, alongside Noel Redding. His legacy lives on through timeless music.
