Megadeth is saying goodbye, with plans for a final album and a massive farewell tour.
The band confirmed the news on Thursday with a video starring Megadeth mascot Vic Rattlehead, who announced “the next Megadeth studio album will be the last”, along with a “global farewell tour” in 2026.
Frontman Dave Mustaine offered his own thoughts: “There’s so many musicians that have come to the end of their career… Most of them don’t get to go out on their own terms on top, and that’s where I’m at in my life right now.”
Mustaine also reflected on the band’s legacy: “We started a musical style, we started a revolution, we changed the guitar world and how it’s played, and we changed the world.”
