The Back to the Beginning show headlined by Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne raised nearly $200 million for charity, with all proceeds going to Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and Acorn Children’s Hospice.
Tom Morello, the music director for the event, expressed the success of the show on Instagram, stating, “We set out to not just create the greatest day in the history of heavy metal.”
The concert drew 40,000 attendees and had 5.8 million online viewers, with every musician performing for free to support the charitable cause.
Birmingham Children’s Hospital’s fundraising manager, Sheeba Ali, expressed gratitude, saying, “It was a brilliant surprise and we’re over the moon.”
Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne have a personal connection to the causes supported by the event, particularly Cure Parkinson’s, following Ozzy’s diagnosis in 2019.
