Robert Trujillo and Kirk Hammett performed a rendition of “Pull The Plug” by Death during a Metallica concert in Tampa.
Terry Butler, a former member of Death, praised Hammett and Trujillo for their rendition of “Pull The Plug” and appreciated the tribute.
The “doodles” performed by Hammett and Trujillo are stripped-down interpretations of songs from various musical heroes, often different from Metallica’s traditional sound.
Trujillo and Hammett put significant effort into researching and learning songs from different countries and languages for their doodles during tours.
Not all artists have been flattered by the Trujillo/Hammett versions of their songs, with Tom Gabriel Fischer criticizing their rendition of Celtic Frost’s “The Usurper” as “humiliating” and suggesting a balance by performing a flawed version of a Metallica song.
