Night Ranger is reflecting on their career, particularly the impact of their power ballad “Sister Christian” in bringing them worldwide success.
The band faced pressure from their record label to replicate the success of “Sister Christian” with similar ballads, leading to their decision to disband in 1989.
Guitarist Brad Gillis explained, “We didn’t want to become known as a ballad band. That’s how you become Air Supply.”
Night Ranger eventually reunited in 1996 and focused on rebuilding their touring base, finding success in Japan, America, and England.
