Mastodon played the first show of their spring tour with Nick Johnston as their new touring guitarist.
Ben Eller briefly filled in as guitarist for Mastodon at the Tool in the Sand festival, after the recent departure of longtime member Brent Hinds.
Johnston is expected to continue with Mastodon for their upcoming spring tour, which includes a set at the Sonic Temple festival and a co-headlining tour with Coheed and Cambria.
Johnston, a Canadian musician, has an impressive resume, recording with bands like Polyphia, Periphery, and Intervals, and touring with Between the Buried and Me and The Contortionist. .
