The Dead Daisies have released their version of the John Lee Hooker classic “Boom Boom” as the latest single from their upcoming blues album “Lookin’ For Trouble.”
The band’s frontman, John Corabi, explains the inspiration behind covering the song saying, “He recorded it with the legendary Motown session band The Funk Brothers, and we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to put our spin on it!!!”
The Dead Daisies’ rendition of “Boom Boom” pays homage to Hooker’s original while infusing their own high-octane, riff-heavy, blues-drenched style into the track.
“Lookin’ For Trouble,” recorded at Fame Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, features ten tracks where the band puts their stamp on legendary blues songs, including covers of Robert Johnson, Freddie King, Lead Belly, Albert King, and B.B. King.
The band members express their deep respect for the blues genre, with Corabi calling the album “our love letter to the blues.”
