Bay Area music legend Leo Rosales, known for his work with Malo and now Momo Tombo, sat down with Soundwaves TV to reflect on his remarkable journey. From singing the iconic “Suavecito” and playing with Latin Rock pioneers, to sharing stages with Santana and B.B. King, Leo’s early success was ground-breaking. Yet, fame came with personal challenges—substance abuse derailed his career for years.
Through recovery, Leo found his way back, crediting music and his wife Virginia as the anchors that saved his life. Today, with 21 years of sobriety, he continues to inspire by performing music that transcends generations. Leo’s story is not only about legacy, but about resilience. As he says, music is more than sound—it’s a healing force, a spiritual zone that connects soul to rhythm.
Catch Leo with MomoTombo SF this May 4th at Longboard, celebrating the spirit of Latin Rock and the joy of redemption.
