George Harrison’s unfinished breakfast toast from 1963 was sold at auction to Beatles memorabilia collector Joseph O’Donnell.
The toast was originally saved by Sue Houghton, a Beatles fan who visited Harrison’s family home and preserved the artifact in her scrapbook.
It was previously sold at auction in 1991 as part of a collection that included Lennon’s love letter to his ex-wife Cynthia, fetching $94,800.
Harrison denied leaving any toast uneaten, stating, “I never left any. The madness is the people selling it, and the people actually buying it.”
O’Donnell described the toast as a “brilliant story that is both bizarre, historical, and a story I’ll continue telling friends, memorabilia collectors, and fellow Beatles fans.”
