Kansas has settled on a replacement for retired singer-bassist Billy Greer. And the band didn’t have to go very far to find him.
Dan McGowan has been recruited to take over for Greer, the band announced on Tuesday. Even if Kansas fans never heard of McGowan, odds are they’ve seen him – he’s been serving as McGowan’s fill-in for the past few years.
Greer had been with Kansas since 1986, when he replaced original bass player Dave Hope. Greer performed more than 2,300 shows with the group before announcing his retirement last week.
