A never-before-heard recording by David Bowie has been unearthed for a new box set.
It’s a cover of The Who’s “I Can’t Explain” recorded at London’s Trident Studios in June of 1972.
Bowie would later record a slower-tempo version for his Pin-Ups album.
The track appears on the upcoming box set David Bowie Rock’n’Roll Star!, which covers the singer’s material from 1971 through the recording of his Ziggy Stardust album.
The five-disc set will be released June 14th.
