Corey Taylor is recalling what attracted him to heavy metal music in the first place.
In an interview, Taylor explained, “It was fast, it was frenetic, it was in your face.”
He also talked about the band’s masks saying they were a visual representation of what the music sounded like.
“[The masks were] a way for us to kind of wear the music on us physically.” He continued, “We were all kind of nuts. We were all just kind of these balls of psychosis that were just trying to work out this kind of frenetic energy, this hyperactive intensity, basically.”
He went on to say, “The masks just helped us kind of tap into it a little more. We just wanted to go out and we just wanted it to be, you know, the wildest thing anybody’s ever seen.”
