The possibility that Nick Bosa will not play in Week 1 is looming larger and larger.

On Wednesday, the 49ers’ game week begins with the first of three practices before Sunday’s season opener in Pittsburgh.

And according to Ian Rapoport, Bosa may not be there. Rapoport tweeted that Bosa remains away from the facility and that his Week 1 status is “in doubt.”

He expounded on the situation here:

The most concerning part of the report is that there hasn’t been movement.

“It seems far-fetched to me to say he’ll play Week 1, even if they get a deal done, which I haven’t heard that that’s coming anyway,” Rapoport said. “These deals are so hard to do because Bosa obviously wants to beat Aaron Donald, there’s different ways to figure out where Aaron Donald figures in. He is extremely principled. His agent, Brian Ayrault, is extremely principled. I have not sensed movement on this one at all, guys.”

At this point, it sounds likelier than not that Bosa could miss at least the first week of the season, unless a deal comes together quickly.
