Thursday was a “low” day, as the 49ers call it. After a Wednesday off day, San Francisco eased back into their training camp practice slate as a number of players watched from the sidelines.

Veterans including Trent Williams, George Kittle, Christian McCaffrey and Tashaun Gipson Sr. watched on.

But a few other names were on the injury list, starting with Elijah Mitchell.

Kyle Shanahan said that Mitchell suffered an abductor strain — an abductor is a muscle attached to the glute, as opposed to an adductor, which would be the groin — and is likely going to miss a week of time.

Jaylon Moore, who suffered an injury that momentarily brought practice to a halt on Tuesday, avoided a worst-case scenario. Shanahan said he suffered a bone bruise, and was walking around with a sleeve on his left ankle.

Also on the injury list were Aaron Banks, who is in the concussion protocol, and Jon Feliciano, who has a shoulder strain, but is expected to practice in this three-day slate.

Other injury-related absences include defensive ends Austin Bryant and Robert Beal Jr., though there was no diagnosis provided.

In other news, Shanahan explained a bit of a surprise in that Brock Purdy was active on Thursday. He had said that Purdy would operate on two day blocks, with two days of practice followed by two days off.

But Purdy practiced on Thursday after just one day off.

Shanahan clarified that his participation is all part of the plan, and that he’ll participate again on Friday, a “high day” of intense practice for the 49ers. Purdy will be off on Saturday before a Sunday off day.

At some point in the next week or so — per Shanahan’s previous update on his progress — Purdy will ramp up to being on a three-day on, one day off schedule.
