Supreme Court Will Consider Case Involving Dog Toy Shaped Like A Jack Daniel’s Bottle

The U.S. Supreme Court will consider taking up a case that involves dog toys, whiskey bottles, and U.S. copyright law.

Jack Daniel’s has sued a dog toy manufacturer over its ‘Bad Spaniels’ toy, which mimics the shape and color of the iconic Jack Daniel’s bottle.

The whiskey maker says the dog toy infringes on its copyright with ‘poop humor’. The makers say they’re protected by parody laws and that Jack Daniel’s “lacks a sense of humor”.

“To be sure, everyone likes a good joke. But VIP’s profit-motivated ‘joke’ confuses consumers by taking advantage of Jack Daniel’s hard-earned goodwill,” said Jack Daniel’s lead attorney, Lisa Blatt.

Do you side with Jack Daniel’s or the dog toy? Is this case really worth the Supreme Court’s time? Share your thoughts on 107.7 the Bone’s Facebook or Twitter page.
