Think being an NFL head coach sounds like fun? You might want to hear about their hours first.

49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan joined Lamont & Tonelli on 107.7 The Bone for the first time this season on Friday morning, and revealed his insane schedule as he preps for Week 1 vs. the Bears in Chicago.

Shanahan says he got home at 10:30 p.m. last night and went straight to bed. But he didn’t sleep for long.

“I’m not trying to tell my hours to everyone,” Shanahan said with a chuckle. “It was an early one today. Probably came in about 4:30 – 5:00 a.m. We’ve got three meetings to prepare for by 8:00 a.m., we’ve got to fit in two radio shows. So you’ve got a lot of stuff going on. But it’s the first week so just like everybody it takes time to get into the groove of things.”

Thursday evenings are big nights for the coaching staff, as they put in their red zone scheme and try and get ready for the final practice of the week.

“The players stick around on Wednesday, on Thursday we let them out after practice, they do their own thing with workouts and rehab type stuff,” Shanahan continued. “Then I get with the coaches until about 6 p.m. and then we do all the our gameplanning and stuff for the next day of practice and all that. So it’s just coaches at night.”
