49ers announce 53-man roster cuts

After a quick, three-game preseason slate and more than a month of training camp, the 49ers’ initial, 53-man roster has finally arrived.

The San Francisco 49ers announced the following roster moves, with distinctions between veteran players who were released and not subject to waivers, and younger players who are subject to the waiver wire.

According to Matt Barrows of The Athletic, two players, in tight end Tyler Kroft, and defensive end Jordan Willis, will be promptly re-signed after both Jimmie Ward and Curtis Robinson are placed on injured reserve.

That will leave the 49ers with four tight ends and 10 defensive linemen, while trimming their ranks to three safeties and five linebackers.
