Black Sabbath Ends up on Rick Sanchez’s Favorite’s Playlist

YouTube, @Adult Swim.

I’m not sure if this is a coincidence or purposeful, but this week has Black Sabbath’s classic “Paranoid” getting a bit of a boost. First it was performed by Tony Iommi and Ozzy Osbourne in a surprise reunion at the closing ceremonies for the Commonwealth games in England and now it has made its way to Adult Swim.

One of the most popular adult cartoons of our time is “Rick and Morty”; Created by Dan Hammond (Community) & Justin Roiland (Adventure Time), the show has super genius Rick Sanchez and his grandson Morty go on crazy sci-fi adventures while breaking the fourth wall and possibly realizing they are in a cartoon. This show has had so much influence in the world of pop culture fans made McDonalds bring back its Szechuan Sauce (a promotional dipping sauce made for the release for Diney’s “Mulan”).

Well, in an all new trailer promoting the next season of the critically acclaimed series we see Rick and his son-in-law Jerry being pinned down when Rick calls to his ship, “Time to kick ass. I’m going to need a soundtrack. Ship! Favorite’s playlist, track one.” From there Black Sabbath’s “Paranoid” begins to play and we get an inside look to what season 6 has in store, which is a whole lot of ass-kicking.

Rick and Morty Season 6 premieres on Adult Swim (Cartoon Network), September 6 at 11pm.
