107.7 The Bone Jock Dayna Keyes Passes

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of a dear member of our Bonehead family, Dayna Keyes.

She was a great shining and talented light, with a funny and vibrant personality. On and off the air, Dayna was truly one of a kind. She was raised on the edge of a drum riser touring with her father and fellow rock n’ roll royalty, drummer Keith Knudsen of The Doobie Brothers, which is where her love for music first began. She grew up in Los Angeles before coming to San Francisco in 2000, where she naturally found her way to 107.7 The Bone.

We send our love to her husband Bear, Momma Kate, and cat Zippy during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to either the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry or the American Society of Addiction Medicine to help with awareness. A memorial fund, The Dayna Keyes Foundation, is being set up to help fund treatment for those who can’t.

Chasta, 107.7 The Bone Program Director, shares that “Dayna and I met years ago and became instant dear friends. We bonded over our love of the south, skincare, and a great inappropriate joke. She was one of my favorite humans on Earth and every chance I got I told her what a badass she was. She knew exactly how I felt about her, she was just so easy to love. It’s hard to find the words to express the love of a woman so unique and special. Dayna will burn bright as the biggest star in the night sky. I love you my southern Sister.”

Lamont, Morning Show host of the Lamont & Tonelli Show, adds “I’m devastated. She was a major talent and an even better person. It’s fucking horrible.”

Tonelli, Morning Show host of the Lamont & Tonelli Show, says “The Bone family is beyond devastated by Dayna’s sudden passing. She was a true talent. She grew up a true rocker, and she brought that passion with her to The Bone.  Air shifts, voice-overs, commercials, she could handle it all with ease, and with incredible enthusiasm.  More than that talent, she was a bright light.  Dayna’s smile, energy, and easy laugh will always have a special place in our hearts.  She will be dearly missed.”

Baby Huey, Producer and 107.7 The Bone jock, shares “Dayna was one of my favorite people to work with. Her big smile and fun personality would fill up any room she walked into. I loved our long conversations about music, dirty jokes and life in general. I’m going to miss her fun, energetic and creative passion for radio. She was my punk rock sister. I love you Dayna.”

Soundwaves FM host Dennis Willis shares “I adored Dayna. She was an absolute delight to be around, equally bawdy and hilarious but also passionate and dedicated to helping others in any way that she could. She was an open book, the kind of person you could meet once and feel like you’d known forever. What a heartbreaking loss.”

Andrea Fox, Promotions Director at 107.7 The Bone, says “One of my absolute favorite people on this planet. Her laugh was infectious, her smile was beautiful, her style impeccable. I will always think of Dayna’s love for cats, her sense of humor, and her love of music. She was my co-worker, friend, and sister, and loved by so many. Words can’t describe how much she will be missed.”

Mari Galaviz, Digital Director at 107.7 The Bone, adds “Dayna taught me that it’s ok to be unapologetically yourself. That cat obsessions are normal; that there should be no limit when you enter a Sephora; that neon nails are business appropriate; and that music is a love language. She was the ray of sunshine in all our lives and my heart aches.”
