When Worlds Collide: 47 Hills Brewing, Part 2

Welcome back to BONE-A-Fide Brews, but more importantly welcome to Part 2 of our special look at the new partnership between South City Ciderworks and 47 Hills Brewing in South San Francisco. In part one, we got to hear from Jenn Root Martell of South City Ciderworks. There we heard her backstory and the in’s and out’s of SCC. If you haven’t heard it yet, click here to listen to part one. With this episode though we get to hear from Co-Owner/Founder of 47 Hills Brewing John Tucci.

John has been a staple here in the Bay Area Brewing scene for quite some time now. John’s career in beer began in 1992 when he decided to attend school in Munich, Germany. There he would go on to learn the science behind brewing and malting. When John came back to America, more specifically the Bay Area, he joined on as head brewer of the Gordon-Biersch Brewing Company. After almost two decades, John decided it was finally time to branch off and begin his own brewing company, and thus, with his business partner Drew Barrington, they opened up 47 Hills.

Of course, this series is to highlight the partnership between 47 Hills and South City Cider, and we definitely touch on that in this episode. You’ll get to hear the process from which Jenn and John had to have in order to figure out space and scheduling between the two entities but aside from that we talk about the beautiful space that houses both of them. When you visit 137 S. Linden Ave in South City, the taproom is a very spacious and inviting spot. With ample space both inside and out and video games, you’ll be able to enjoy both a crisp lager from John or a refreshing cider from Jenn, but whatever you may choose to enjoy, it is great to know that both 47 Hills and South City Cider have a place they can call home.

Cheers \m/,
Joe Hawk
