Joe Staley, Frank Gore offer to buy NFC Championship Game tickets for 49ers fans

The Rams are doing everything they can to ensure there isn’t another 49ers takeover in the stands at SoFi Stadium on Sunday. Former 49ers Joe Staley and Frank Gore are trying to throw a wrench in their plans.

It all began with Joe Staley doing some good natured trolling in response to a tweet from Melissa Whitworth, wife of Rams offensive tackle Andrew Whitworth. She wrote: “If you @RamsNFL fans want to sell your tickets – I’ll buy them. Just DO NOT sell them to the other team PLEASE!”

Staley responded with the exact same message.

Staley’s old teammate, Frank Gore, chimed in as well, saying he’s on board.

The Rams and their fans are definitely paranoid about a repeat of two weeks ago, where there were so many 49ers fans in the stands that Los Angeles quarterback Matt Stafford had to go to a silent count. In fact, the Rams are trying to only sell tickets to fans who live in the Los Angeles area via their Ticketmaster site.

It’s unclear why Rams fans would want to sell their tickets to two 49ers legends, but if the price is right, maybe they’ll leave their allegiances at the door.
