Metallica Gives Theft Victim New Drum Kit

A Los Angeles street musician whose drum kit was recently stolen is back in business – thanks to the members of Metallica.

The performer – who goes by Sheriff Drumman – has performed in the L.A. area for more than six years, playing his custom drum kit from the bed of a pickup truck. Last month, the truck was stolen – and although police recovered the vehicle, the drums weren’t in it, Drumman says.

Then Metallica came along. A rep for the band on Friday delivered a new Tama drum kit to Drumman along with the following message: “We can’t have Sheriff Drumman without drums. So our friends at Metallica wanted to say: ‘Here you go, my friend, get back to drumming. This kit’s all for you – we hope you enjoy it.’” A clearly touched Drumman responded, “I don’t know what to say. Man, thank you guys so much. Thank you for taking the time and the resources to support and help what I do. I love you for that – and I’d love to meet you one day in person!”
