San Francisco Declared ‘Metallica Day’ Ahead Of 40th Anniversary Concerts

Metallica has been honored with its own holiday in their adopted hometown of San Francisco.

On Thursday, San Fran Mayor London Breed declared December 16th as ‘Metallica Day’, proclaiming “When you talk about San Francisco, you talk about cable cars and then you talk about Metallica“.

Drummer Lars Ulrich says he was honored: “our hearts and our souls and our sense of belonging will always be San Francisco.

The proclamation came as Metallica prepares to play two 40th anniversary concerts at the Chase Center on Friday and Sunday nights – concerts that will stream free on Amazon and Twitch.

Who are some other rock bands that are inextricably linked with their home cities?
