Metal bands have been using satanic imagery for as long as heavy metal has existed – and Bruce Dickinson understands why.

The Iron Maiden frontman said bands like Black Sabbath would use demonic imagery because “it’s really dramatic” and “shocked people”.

Dickinson’s thoughts appear on the first episode of his new podcast Psycho Schizo Espresso, which dives into “the devil’s role in heavy metal”.

Why do you think so many heavy metal bands use satanic imagery?  Did you ever get in trouble for listening to metal when you were young?
