There’s always been an imagined rivalry between the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. But usually the bands themselves have nothing but nice things to say about each other – usually.
Paul McCartney appeared to throw a little shade towards his rock’n’roll rivals in an interview with The New Yorker, calling them “a blues cover band”.
He said “I’m not sure I should say it, but they’re a blues cover band, that’s sort of what the Stones are… I think our net was cast a bit wider than theirs.”
McCartney’s been in a chatty mood lately – last week, he told the BBC that it was John Lennon, not him, who broke up the Beatles.
