Three years after he was kicked out of the group, Lindsey Buckingham says his days as a member of Fleetwood Mac likely aren’t behind him. Buckingham’s prediction isn’t just the result of wishful thinking; he says he’s already received an invitation from the man himself, Mick Fleetwood. “There have been intimations from Mick, who I’ve talked to several times, that he wants to try to get the five of us back together,” the guitarist says.

While Buckingham doesn’t know what caused Fleetwood’s change of heart, he says he suspects it has to do with the classic group’s most recent tour. “I did not see their last tour. I’m sure it was fine, but I think it was probably very mellow by comparison,” Buckingham says. “They were covering so much other Fleetwood Mac material, and they were doing Crowded House songs and Tom Petty songs. So, I wasn’t sure how that was going to pan out, and I wasn’t sure how Mick ultimately felt about it either, but that was the politics of the situation that led to that.”

Could Buckingham and Stevie Nicks ever share a stage again?
