Tour Kurt Cobain’s “In Utero” House

If you’re a Nirvana fan, or if you’re a fan of old, famous houses, then listen up! This YouTube video tours a piece of rock & roll history.

It’s the house Kurt Cobain was living in when he wrote most of the songs for the Nirvana album In Utero, which is arguably on of the most famous albums ever made by one of the most famous bands in history. It’s located on High Tower Drive in the Hollywood Heights section of Hollywood, and is currently empty (apparently abandoned). Although it’s a bit run down, it’s still worth approximately $2.5 million, mostly due to the land it’s built on. It’s actually quite beautiful, and the video shows photos that were taken of Kurt and his family inside the house, next to the spots they were taken.

They chose the house because it was extremely isolated and difficult to access, and was intended to help remove Kurt from the party scene. The back porch has long-distance viewing access to the Hollywood Bowl, which was surely an added bonus. Although in rough shape, it’s still a gorgeous house set on a beautiful landscape. We are curious what they’ll do with it next! Maybe a Nirvana museum? Or maybe Frances Bean Cobain would move back in.
