Some people say that without the Sex Pistols there would be no punk. But without Steve Jones, there would be no Sex Pistols. Hard to say. But Sex Pistol fans are in luck because production begins in March for a new six-episode biopic series about the infamous English punk band, and it’s based on Steve Jones’ 2017 memoir Lonely Boy: Tales from a Sex PistolFX Entertainment is producing the show, titled Pistol, and Danny Boyle (Trainspotting, The Beach, Slumdog Millionaire) has been brought on to direct the series.

Boyle says, “This is the moment that British society and culture changed forever. It is the detonation point for British street culture… where ordinary young people had the stage and vented their fury and their fashion…and everyone had to watch and listen…and everyone feared them or followed them. The Sex Pistols.”

Guitarist Steve Jones, who is on Rolling Stone Magazine’s 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time, originally formed the Sex Pistols in 1975.
