Steph Curry ‘meets’ Oakland nurses in touching FaceTime

Yesterday was one of the coolest moments of my life; I was able to meet my hero, Stephen Curry (via FaceTime). He thanked me and my colleagues for all our hard work on the frontlines during this pandemic. And I was finally able to thank him for all the inspiration and strength he’s given me over the years. He also gave me some excellent advice on how to be positive and kind during tough times, which I think can apply to all of us these days. Thank you Steph for spreading your joy and boosting our morale! And thank you Mercury News for helping us get connected! Go Dubs! #StrengthInNumbers #ICanDoAllThings

Stephen Curry, a hero of so many, wanted to say thank you to the heroes who are increasingly getting recognized in today’s world.

The Warriors star “met” nurses at Alta Bates Summit Hospital in Oakland on Tuesday, FaceTiming the medical professionals who are overworked and at risk during the ongoing fight against the coronavirus.

Nurse Shelby Delaney is among the world’s biggest Curry fans, wearing his jersey underneath her scrubs — along with her Curry 6s — and Curry heard about her through the Mercury News.

“I can’t thank y’all enough for what you’re doing,” Curry told Delaney, who was surrounded by nurses. “Just the sacrifice, selflessness, how everybody’s coming together. Thank you so much for what you do, your heart, the inspiration y’all provide for everybody.

“What we do is fun and all that, but more people need to know about what goes on in your world.”

Delaney called it “one of the coolest moments of my life.”

“I was finally able to thank him for all the inspiration and strength he’s given me over the years,” she wrote on Facebook.

“He also gave me some excellent advice on how to be positive and kind during tough times, which I think can apply to all of us these days.

“Thank you Steph for spreading your joy and boosting our morale!”
