Lars Ulrich on aging whiskey with Metallica’s music, opening the Chase Center

Lars Ulrich, the drummer for Metallica, is not one to put his money where his mouth isn’t, so the band’s collaboration with Blackened American Whiskey comes not as a gimmick but from a true belief in the product.

Ulrich walked around the BevMo store like a kid in a candy shop, oohing and ahing at the sight of his favorite whiskey’s neatly lined up on a shelf. The rockstar was holding a fan event celebrating the release of his band’s latest venture – Blackened Whiskey Batch 99

Each batch is barrel-aged and also macerated with the sound of a playlist created by the members of Metallica.

Ulrich emphasized that if he was going to have to stand and talk about something with Metallica’s name on it, they had to genuinely believe in it.

Lars also recounted the moments that lead up to their inaugural performances at the Chase Center, the newly appointed home of the Golden State Warriors.
