Kurt Cobain’s Cardigan Sweater And Pizza Plate Auction Off For Thousands Of Dollars

Last weekend former Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain’s cardigan sweater that he wore during the band’s last photoshoot sold for $75,000. Plus, a pizza plate used by Kurt Cobain sold for $22,400 at the same auction. Both of Kurt Cobain’s items were put up by Julien’s Auctions.

For Nirvana fans, the cardigan sweater might look familiar because Kurt Cobain wore it in the photos for the band’s 1993 album “In Utero.” The album came out in September 1993, seven months before Kurt Cobain passed away in April 1994.

Julien’s Auctions noted of the cardigan sweater:

“The shoot was meant to take place in Central Park in New York City, but due to Cobain being sick just hours before, the shoot was relocated to the basement of the hotel where the band was staying. Cobain showed up three hours late to the shoot and immediately asked for a bucket due to his nausea.”

As for the paper plate, which includes a Nirvana set list handwritten by Kurt Cobain, is from Nirvana’s show at the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C. back on April 23rd, 1990.

Julien’s Auctions noted of the paper plate:

“Cobain had eaten some pizza before the show and proceeded to write the set list on the plate he had been eating his pizza on.”
