Flea addresses rumors of Red Hot Chili Peppers retirement

Last week, drummer Chad Smith said that the Red Hot Chili Peppers may be slowing down and could unable to continue large-scale touring, but now bassist Flea has responded to those rumors.

While in Switzerland for the Paleo Festival, Flea was asked about the rumors and if the band has any plans of retiring soon.

I don’t know if you know it, but that’s just silly talk. We never really look past the immediate future, but we’re on tour right now, we’re rocking out, we feel in the spirit, letting the music move us. To be honest, since we first started this band 35 years ago, I’ve never ever known what’s next or round the corner or anything. I think the power of the band lies in that – just staying in the moment and the energy that’s moving.

While speculation on the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ retirement remains, they are currently on tour in support of their most recent album, The Getaway with dates extending through October.
