As one of their guest features, the Foo Fighters recruited Boyz II Men singer Shawn Stockman for backup vocals on the band’s upcoming album, Concrete and Gold.

In an interview with BBC Radio 6, Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl was asked what the weirdest part of recording the new album was.

The guy from Boyz II Men walking through the parking lot and me saying, ‘Ahh, dude, would you sing on our record?’ And he does – on the heaviest song on the entire record. It sounds like Sabbath and Pink Floyd…It’s the last song on the record, with the guy from Boyz II Men…his name is Shawn, singing like a choir. He built a choir – it’s like 40 vocals stacked. It’s insane. It’s amazing.

This interview comes after Grohl spoke with BBC Radio 1 on June 20, saying there would be more collaborations on the new album, but he wouldn’t reveal any names.

Then we have a bunch of guests that we haven’t told anybody about and some that will really surprise you…There is one who is probably the biggest pop star in the world and I’m not kidding, sings back ups on one of the heaviest songs on the record.

The Foo Fighters also debuted the song, “Dirty Water” off Concrete and Gold at a recent concert in Paris. The album is scheduled for release on September 15.
