This past Friday night I finally was able to kill two birds with one stone. see one of my new favorite bands, Power Trip and check out The Ritz in San Jose.
First off, wow, what a great venue The Ritz is, which is located in downtown San Jose. I like the setup inside. When you walk inside they have a bar right in the front, off to the right is a separate room used for merch from the bands and when you walked into the main room, I was surprised how big the room is. The main room is very long, in the back has big couches that could be used for a VIP area, the main bar is larger than the one in the front and the floor is divided into two sections. The back half of the floor is higher up than the front half near the stage, which is great because if you are ordering a drink in the back you can still see the stage clearly over everyone’s head down in the front. I look forward on attending more shows at The Ritz, the South Bay has a great venue now to catch more rock and metal shows.

Texas’ Power Trip has released their official video for “Executioner’s Tax (Swing Of The Axe).” The band continues to tour the planet in support of their Nightmare Logic LP, as they are currently torching the West Coast of North America and will head to Europe in the coming weeks.
Power Trip’s new video for their hit single “Executioner’s Tax (Swing Of The Axe)” takes us front and center, into the eye of what is guaranteed to be a perfect storm time and time again. The footage, captured at a spirited hometown show in Dallas melts with clips of political propaganda which encompass vocalist Riley Gale’s lyrics that hone in on the devaluation of human life by those who’ve gained power through money and politics. The video was directed by Andy Capper with director of photography Joel Pront, and editor Andrew Betsch.
