What is Podcasting?
Podcasting is radio's answer to TiVo. Unlike
streaming radio, which requires real time listening, Podcasting
lets you hear some of your favorite BONE programs in other
than "real" time. It allows you to receive automatic,
FREE, downloads of select content (in mp3 format) directly
to your desktop or laptop computer and on to your iPod
or other MP3 player.
At this time, licensing and publishing fees
for most commercially released music have not been determined,
so we can't make our music programs available to you via
Podcasting. When this situation is resolved, look for
more BONE programming to be made available.
Want to try it?
We recommend that you download
and install the latest version of iTunes, simply the
best way to automatically receive Bonecasts. Other free
Podcast programs to choose from include: iPodder, jPodder, iPodderX, Podcastalley.com, Podcast.net, Odeo.com.
Do
I have to have an iPod?
No, Podcasts work on almost all mp3 players
but by using iTunes and an iPod, you will have the easiest
possible access to our Bonecasts. If all you want to do
is listen from your computer, you won't even need a portable
mp3 player. Just click on the desired media player.
It's
as simple as 1-2-3:
1. Subscribe: Browse, sample and subscribe to our Podcasts using iTunes
from the iTunes Podcast Directory.
2. Download: Let iTunes update your
growing collection automatically.

3. Sync: Download the Podcasts
to your portable player and listen to our programs anytime,
anywhere.
Why We Recommend iTunes & The iPod
Searching for Podcasts on the internet can
mean browsing thousands of Podcasts on many different
server sites. And if you wanted to subscribe to a Podcast,
you may need additional software to keep everything up
to date. Subscribing to our Bonecasts is easier if you
choose iTunes 4.9 or higher.
You can easily find and subscribe to Bonecasts
from one of the largest directories on the web
the iTunes Podcast Directory. Once you subscribe to the
Bonecasts, iTunes automatically checks for updates and
downloads new episodes to your computer whenever you sync
your iPod or other mp3 player. You also can get The Bone
on-demand radio, delivered automatically over the Internet!
How to get your Podcasts into your non-iPod
MP3 Player
Open your hard drive, or C drive, to the
file shown below. The folder named "Your Podcasts"
will be the name of the Podcast you have subscribed to.
Your file structure may be slightly different than the
representation below. Once there, copy the mp3 Podcasts
to the directory that contains your music files and transfer
them to your portable mp3 player, as you would transfer
any song. That's all there is to it!
