JUDAS
PRIEST will release the new live DVD Rising In The East on November
15 via Rhino Home Video. "We talked about doing a DVD on
this tour and we decided to do it at the Budokan because it's
a special venue. It's world-renowned. We thought it was an ideal
choice," says Glenn Tipton. "We filmed both nights
but we ended up using the second night only for this DVD. We
wanted it to be as live and as real as possible, and when you
start taking from different shows there isn't continuity. We
wanted it to be one show and that's exactly what it is."
Rising In The East contains Priest classics from albums Sad
Wings Of Destiny, Sin After Sin, Stained Class, Hell Bent For
Leather, British Steel, Point Of Entry, Screaming For Vengeance,
Turbo, Ram It Down and Painkiller as well as Angel Of Retribution.
The track listing includes: 'The Hellion/Electric Eye', 'Metal
Gods', 'Riding On The Wind', 'The Ripper', 'A Touch Of Evil',
'Judas Rising', 'Revolution', 'Hot Rockin', 'Breaking The Law',
'I'm A Rocker', 'Diamonds And Rust', 'Worth Fighting For', 'Deal
With The Devil', 'Beyond The Realms Of Death', 'Turbo Lover',
'Hellrider', 'Victim Of Changes', 'Exciter', 'Painkiller', 'Hell
Bent For Leather', 'Living After Midnight' and 'You've Got Another
Thing Comin'. The audio, which was mixed by longtime Judas Priest
producer Tom Allom, is presented in 5.1 Surround Sound. Also,
the band will play their first dates in Russia at the end of
November, with shows slated for Kiev, Moscow and St. Petersburg.
Tipton told us that Russia is one country Priest have long wanted
to visit: "We know there's a big demand for the band there
'cause a lot of Russian fans come to see us when we're in Germany
or places like that. And for whatever reason, we had it scheduled
and then it just hasn't happened, and so Russia's one place
we would like to go to and play."

SANCTUARY
Group gave warning Friday that it would have to take a multimillion-pound
hit to its balance sheet as it fights to ensure its long-term
survival. The company told investors that its end-of-year balance
sheet "will show net liabilities" meaning that, technically,
the business is worth less than nothing. Shares in the record
company behind Morrissey, the former Smiths frontman, plunged
15 per cent as Sanctuary said that it was reviewing its accounting
policies, as well as dealing with the consequences of a dismal
year of trading. It is not clear how great the impact will be
- results for the year to September are due in early December.
At the half-year, Sanctuary had net assets of £133 million,
suggesting that the change would be very significant. The only
comfort comes from a bright start to the current year, with
strong sales from albums by Status Quo and Simple Minds, and
well as touring income from Sir Elton John and Joss Stone. Problems
have been caused by retailers returning large quantities of
stock over the summer, amid fears about Santuary's long-term
future. That situation is thought to have stabilized, but only
after the balance sheet date.

original MSG pairing of GARY BARDEN and MICHAEL SCHENKER, responsible
for such classic songs as 'Armed & Ready' and 'Cry For The
Nations' have been in the studio together. No, not a new MSG
recording but a track for Gary's forthcoming solo album. Michael
has played guitar on a track called 'Let Me Down', from the
album entitled Songs From The Thai Room. Gary also contributed
some vocals for the MSG anniversary album (on the track entitled
'Walls Of Steel'), which prompted current MSG singer Chris Logan
to say that it was the best thing that he had heard for 10 years.
BON
JOVI was in New York City on October 27th to film a video for
the song 'Welcome To Wherever You Are', taken from their new
album Have A Nice Day. A video for the song had reportedly been
shot earlier this year but the band "opted to go another
direction with the creative and therefore commissioned a new
videoshoot." Long time friend and video collaborator Wayne
Isham directed the new video, which involved stopping traffic
in NYC's Columbus Circle and filming a performance piece on
a traffic island amidst morning rush hour pedestrian and vehicle
traffic. From there the shoot moved to Brooklyn for a number
of different scenes.

TOMMY
LEE suffered minor burns on his arms and face while suspended
30 feet above the stage during a pyrotechnic explosion at a
Motley Crue concert in Casper, WY on Wednesday, October 12.
He was treated as an outpatient at a local hospital and is expected
to fully recover. Motley Crue singer Vince Neil said, "He
didn't look good while the paramedics were treating him backstage
so we chose to err on the side of caution and send him to the
hospital." Following the end of their own U.S. tour later
this month, the Crue will join THE ROLLING STONES for shows
in Portland and Seattle before touring in Japan and Australia.
Northwest
Indiana's nwitimes.com (nwitimes.com) has issued the following
report from Carmen McCollum: A woman is angry with the Lake
Central School District because school officials contend her
son's shirt is inappropriate and violates school policy. Debra
Briones, of Schererville, said her son, Timothy, 17, is a junior
at the school. She said he wore a shirt recently that depicted
a picture of a heavy metal guitarist named "DIMEBAG"
DARRELL ABBOTT, someone he looks up to. According to a Web dictionary,
a dime bag refers to a small plastic bag of heroin that usually
costs $10. Abbott, 38, who formed a band called DAMAGEPLAN,
was killed while performing in a heavy-metal rock concert on
Dec. 8, 2004 in Columbus, Ohio. Three others also were killed
during the concert when a man ran up on stage and began a shooting
rampage. The man was eventually shot and killed by police. Briones
said her son learned how to play the guitar by watching Abbott,
and looks up to him as a role model. Timothy was called into
the office of Tim Powers, sophomore dean of students, on Friday
on another matter, Debra Briones said. Timothy said he was asked
to turn his shirt inside out. He did not, returned to class
and was not disciplined. "I've worn this shirt many times
since I got it for Christmas," he said, adding this was
the first time anyone said anything. Lake Central School Superintendent
Janet Emerick said the policy regarding apparel is clear and
is applicable to all students within the district. "Any
apparel or item that alludes to drugs, alcohol, sex, the occult,
gangs, profanity or which are offensive to ethnic or racial
groups is prohibited," she read from the policy. Emerick
said the student handbook, including school policies, is distributed
at the beginning of the school year. She declined to discuss
specific students. His mother went to the school the next day
to bring in articles about Abbott to show what a "good
guy" he was, and discuss how much her son admired the guitarist.
"The principal wouldn't even look at it," she said.
When asked what she ultimately wants, Briones said she'd like
for her son to be able to wear his shirt to school, and that
his First Amendment rights not be violated.
"Like
that guy who made up a story that I'm supposed to be bisexual.
I called him up and told him that he's writing stuff that is
not true. 'Yeah, so what?' was his response. I said, 'Well,
you can't collect your money if you have a screwdriver jammed
through both your f**king kneecaps, can you?'" LEMMY KILMISTER,
frontman of the metal band MOTORHEAD, on how he killed one Internet
rumor (Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter, Oct. 5).

ACE
FREHLEY recently made the rounds at The Borgata in Atlantic
City, dropping by to hang out with RICK SPRINGFIELD after Rick's
sold-out show at the resort on October 1. Ace and Rick chatted
it up about the biz and touring and were then escorted over
to the other venue within the casino complex to catch the final
encore of PEARL JAM's also sold-out performance where Ace was
penciled in to jam with the band. Ace was brought up onstage
by Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready, who announced to the capacity
crowd, "I never would have picked up a guitar if it wasn't
for Ace Frehley." Springfield and his entourage cheered
Ace on from the VIP area as the band launched into an overcharged
rendition of NEIL YOUNG's 'Keep On Rockin' In The Free World'
with Ace offering up the blistering leads to the SRO crowd.
A photo of Ace with Rick Springfield can be seen at www.kissonline.com.

With the release of wife Sharon (Osbourne)'s new biography book,
SHARON OSBOURNE Extreme: My Autobiography, some untold OZZY
OSBOURNE stories have finally been told... Rock wildman Ozzy
Osbourne horrified German record executives by branding them
"Nazis" after they invited him for dinner. The Black
Sabbath star, who was at the height of his substance-abusing
hell in the late 1970s, further amazed the music moguls by performing
an elaborate display of offensive gestures and Adolf Hitler
impersonations - and his long-suffering wife Sharon witnessed
the carnage first-hand. She recalls, "When I look back
now I can only see the funny side, but this was career-destroying
behavior. "The German record company have organized a formal
dinner. "We're there for a gig and Ozzy is out of his mind.
He strips off all but his socks and shoes. "He gets on
the table, puts his right index finger under his nose to look
like Hitler and with his left arm extended starts to goose-step
on the table. "He then picks up the boss' glass, plops
his balls into the wine and bangs the glass back on the table.
"'You're all f**king Nazis over here,' Ozzy said. Then
he sits on the head honcho's lap, wraps his legs around him,
says, 'Kiss me, you f**ker' and sticks his tongue down his throat."
Newly
recorded covers of JOHN LENNON's 'Woman', JOE WALSH's 'Rocky
Mountain Way' and the MOODY BLUES' 'Go Now' will be found on
the OZZY OSBOURNE collection Under Covers, due Nov. 1 as a DualDisc
via Epic. The remaining 10 cuts were released earlier this year
on the Under Covers disc of the Ozzy boxed set Prince Of Darkness.
Among them are MOUNTAIN's 'Mississippi Queen', which features
that band's guitarist, Leslie West, KING CRIMSON's '21st Century
Schizoid Man', the JEFF BECK GROUP's 'Hi Ho Silver Lining',
MOTT THE HOOPLE's 'All The Young Dudes' and the ROLLING STONES'
'Sympathy For The Devil'. On the DVD side, fans will be treated
to the featurette, Dinner With Ozzy and Friends, which finds
him regaling his son Jack and MOTORHEAD frontman Lemmy Kilmister
with tales of rock'n'roll excess. A video for Ozzy's cover of
THE BEATLES' 'In My Life' is also included. Here is the track
list for Under Covers: 'Rocky Mountain Way', 'In My Life', 'Mississippi
Queen', 'Go Now', 'Woman', '21st Century Schizoid Man', 'All
The Young Dudes', 'For What It's Worth', 'Good Times', 'Sunshine
Of Your Love', 'Fire', 'Working Class Hero', 'Sympathy For The
Devil'.
QUEENSRYCHE
recently announced that due to recording deadlines they were
forced to cancel their October 18th, 19th and 21st shows in
Mexico. Queensryche continue to work on the anxiously-awaited
Operation: Mindcrime II. So far 18 songs have been completed.
Rhino will release their new album in early 2006.
SAXON frontman Biff Byford has posted the following update at
the band's official website: "Looks like America is gonna
happen, working hard on the new visa system after 9/11. As of
today the tour starts in Allentown 4th of November. Unfortunately,
we have to put back South America yet again and some dates in
the USA. We're really sorry for that, but we're working hard
to get replacement dates. It's great having Nigel back in the
band it sounds like he never left. We've started writing and
some recording for the new album that should be out next year.
We think SPV are going to re-release the Lionheart album and
we're trying to put together some extra bonus material."
This past March, Byford's home in France was completely burnt
down. Apart from a few bits and pieces everything was destroyed.
He was able to rescue his wife and their four small children,
but the singer lost almost everything that he has gained the
last 25 years including golden records, rare guitars, photos,
souvenirs etc.
Raving
Toy Maniac (www.toymania.com) report that in 2006, Stevenson
Entertainment Group will be releasing figures and statues based
on the band MOTORHEAD. The following press release has been
posted at the site: October 2005 - SEG has entered into an agreement
with Bravado International for figural and statue rights to
the infamous band Motorhead. For the past 30 years, Lemmy Kilmister
and his band Motorhead have seen and done it all and lived to
tell about it. And what's more amazing is that they're still
going strong. Not only did Motorhead pick up a Grammy in 2005,
but they're still out on the road playing to sold out crowds
around the world. Viewed by his peers and the masses as the
"Godfather" of hard rock music, Lemmy has become an
indisputable icon that has etched his place in history as one
of the best. SEG is proud to announce it will be releasing a
highly detailed figure of Lemmy Kilmister in the Spring of 2006
with a statue of the iconic Warpig logo in the Fall of 2006.

SEBASTIAN
BACH's website (www.sebastianbach.com) has been updated with
a slew of photos taken on the 2005 tour by drummer Bobby Jarzombek.
Upcoming live dates include: November 12 at Mulcahy's in Wantaugh,
New York 15 at Canecao in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil 17 at Opiniao
in Porto Alegre, Brazil. Rumours have been circulating that
Dave 'Snake' Sabo had become friendly with SEBASTIAN BACH, and
that therefore a SKID ROW reunion was imminent. We contacted
Rachel Bolan, who issued the following statement: "That
is all false. (Singer) Johnny (Solinger) is going nowhere. He
has a project on the side (which I am involved in from a songwriting
standpoint) but he is "THE" singer for Skid Row. Actually
in 2006 Johnny will have been in the band longer than Baz. Which
incidentally Snake has not been in contact with. So let this
put the rumors to rest. This is the band. We are finishing up
the worldwide deal with SPV as you read this and plan to have
the new CD on the shelves soon."
CINDERELLA

Two deputies who arrested Alex Zivojinovich, known
onstage as ALEX LIFESON of RUSH have sued, claiming the guitarist
attacked them as they tried to force his son to leave a hotel
during a New Year's Eve party. Lawyers representing the Ritz-Carlton
in Naples and deputies involved in the arrest filed court papers
arguing they acted properly when they arrested Justin Zivojinovich,
who allegedly had become disorderly and was asked to leave the
party to ring in 2004. The filings respond to a federal lawsuit
filed in June by Zivojinovich. That lawsuit seeks unspecified
damages for battery, unlawful arrest and false imprisonment
against the hotel and its security director, Frank Barner. It
also accuses Collier County sheriff's deputies Christopher Knott,
Scott Russell and Amy Stanford.
IRON MAIDEN are set to get into the next Guinness
World Records book, they are considering playing a gig onboard
a plane. They would love to break the record for the highest
live performance and insist they could easily achieve the feat.
Singer BRUCE DICKINSON reveals, "Some day I'd even like
to do a gig on board a plane, literally join the eight-mile
high club. It's possible, and it would be great to get into
the Guinness Book Of Records."
MOTLEY CRUE bassist NIKKI SIXX spoke to Jill Kipnis
from Billboard about the band's successful reunion tour that
has grossed $19 million US through the first half of the year,
according to Billboard Boxscore. The current tour which features
original members Sixx, vocalist Vince Neil, guitarist Mick Mars
and drummer Tommy Lee was so popular in its first leg this spring
that the group announced an additional 57 North American arena
and amphitheater dates. That brings its number of tour stops
this year domestically and abroad to more than 100. When asked
if he expected the tour to be so successful, Sixx responded:
"None of us had a crystal ball. We knew the band would
have an insane show. When tickets went on sale, would it be
1,000 or 2,000 people, or the numbers that it ended up being?
We didn't know. We were blown away. I forget what the first
date was, but Madison Square Garden was one of the earlier ones.
The band's never been over-the-top huge on the east coast, and
some of those first shows went clean (sold out) in a very short
amount of time." "A lot of the promoters didn't (initially)
jump onboard," Sixx continues We rented the buildings ourselves.
So, later, when they wanted us to come back, we said, 'Well,
it's going to cost you, because we just made all the money and
why would we give any to you now?' If we did what everybody
said we should do, we would have had a technology-driven, sort
of clean, safe, PC rock show. That's just not who we are. Our
show is over the top, and our banter is over the top."
The
following message has been posted at DOUG ALDRICH's website
(www.dougaldrich.com): "Well, Doug was looking forward
to a break after the WHITESNAKE tour but at the last minute,
it seems he has been asked to fill in on the Dio tour in Europe.
There aren't a lot of details on my end but Doug confirmed that
he has gotten the call to come over to Europe ASAP. While currently
a member of Whitesnake Doug has informed David (Coverdale) of
the situation and has been given the OK to go. Doug will be
joining Ronnie on the tour starting October 6th in Eindhoven,
Holland. I have no details on the situation regarding the current
Dio guitarist Craig, but will let you know when I have more
information." Since the announcement the following message
regarding the situation has been posted at the Dio website (www.ronniejamesdio.com):
The Niji Management camp reports that Craig Goldy hurt his arm
while touring Russia and has been trying to continue to play
the shows on painkillers, but it has now become impossible for
him to continue. Therefore, Doug Aldrich will be stepping in
for him from Eindhoven and will play the rest of the tour, including
the UK.
