With the rising prices of video games, it’s always nice to find a downloadable game that isn’t beaten in one sitting, and also has the ability to spawn a possible franchise. Deathspank is just that. A relatively older downloadable game in both the Playstation and Xbox markets, but an overall Home Run with the quality and actually brings you back to just how simple and fun video games used to be back in the day.

I downloaded the Demo and was immediately sold to purchase the full game after the opening narration. Basically – Deathspank is a modern day knight in shining armor, who is looking to help rid the land of evil. He accomplishes all of this, while wearing a purple thong. Sure enough, you find out sooner than later – that his special under piece…is almost central to the story.

Where Deathspank really wins is the witty writing and voiceovers done for the characters, a lot of work went into making this game not take itself seriously. In this instance, it totally works. The gameplay, harkens back to an almost updated Super Mario Brothers mentality, simple attacks and easy to complete quests – with also much harder, sometimes you have to strategize attacks. For the dollar, Deathspank is worth every penny. If you are between games and need something to fill the void, Deathspank is a great option. Just ask the cow after the first level...
