SUPPORT HAITI RELIEF EFFORTS

Early estimates indicate that as many as three million people may be affected by the catastrophic earthquake which hit Haiti. The American Red Cross’ efforts are currently underway to provide basic supplies like food, water and medicine.  The people of Haiti are struggling to survive during this critical time of need and you have the power to help.

Silicon Valley Education Foundation - 2/11
New funding, specially earmarked for field trips, is available to Santa Clara County schools. Interested parents, teachers and administrators should attend the presentation on February 11 in San Jose.  To find out more, go to www.svefoundation.org.

Asian Law Caucus - 2/12

Bay Area Black Comedy Competition & Festival - 2/14

Bone Marrow Blood Drive - 2/20
8-year-old Natalie was diagnosed with an aggressive form of leukemia, AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia) in 2008. After five rounds of chemotherapy, she went into remission and re-enrolled in school. But her leukemia returned in January and now her only chance for survival is to find a life-saving bone marrow donor as soon as possible. All are encouraged to register, particularly donors of Asian descent.  While Caucasians have a 3 out of 10 chance in finding a match, the current odds for an ethnic minority patient like Natalie to find a matching unrelated donor may be close to 1 in a million. For more info, go to  www.hopefornatalie.com or www.facebook.com/Save.Natalie?ref=ts.  The Bone Marrow Donor Drive will be held Saturday, February 20, 9am to 4pm, at Gregory Gardens Elementary School, 1 Corritone Court in Pleasant Hill.  Potential donors must be between the ages of 18 and 55 and in good general health.

Legendary Comics to Star in Benefit for SF State Athletics - 2/26 & 2/27
Comedian (and San Francisco State University alumnus) Ronnie Schell (Gomer Pyle, Love Boat, Mork & Mindy, Dukes of Hazzard, Sanford and Son, Happy Days, Hogan’s Heroes and other classic TV comedies) brings comedy back to the SFSU campus for the Tenth Annual Comedy Night to benefit the SFSU Athletics Scholarship Endowment.  This year, entertainers include legends Tim Conway, (Carol Burnett Show), Rich Little, (Rich Little Show, Tonight Show), Tommy Smothers, (Smothers Brothers’ Comedy Hour), Kevin Pollak (Usual Suspects, A Few Good Men), Will Durst, (Comedy Channel, NPR, SF Chronicle) and Steve Rossi (Ed Sullivan Show, Howard Stern Show). With the help of our loyal Boneheads, Lamont & Tonelli's annual "Sip It, Grip It, & Rip It" Golf Tournament raised over $5,000 for the Ronald McDonald House in Palo Alto.

107.7 THE BONE A FINALIST FOR 2005 N.A.B. CRYSTAL AWARD
107.7 The Bone was among the finalists announced in the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Crystal Radio Awards competition. Since 1987, the NAB Crystal Awards have recognized radio stations for their outstanding year-round community service efforts.

“We are taking local radio to a whole new level,” said Bone General Manager Dwight Walker. We create goodwill for Bay Area communities and through events such as Bone Home Town. Localism is one of the foundations of our brand. It an honor for The BONE to be recognized by the broadcast industry for our efforts.”

107.7 The Bone works with local charities such as The Breast Cancer Fund, Ronald McDonald House, Second Harvest Food Banks, Childrens Hospital Oakland and Little Kids Rock to enhance their efforts. In addition, the station’s “Bone Home Town” program has helped towns and cities throughout the Bay Area publicize their communities concerns and needs.

The finalists were selected by a panel of judges representing broadcasting, community service organizations and public relations firms.

 

SAVE THE EARTH FOUNDATIONBONEHEADS RAISE $1400 ON EARTH DAY
Thank you to all the Boneheads who participated in Save The Earth's guitar auction for Earth Day.  The autographed Aerosmith guitar went for $1400.

All proceeds benefitted Save The Earth Foundation.

 

 

imagesRECORD NUMBERS TURN OUT FOR BLOOD DRIVE
107.7 The Bone was a proud sponsor of the annual Infineon Technologies High-Speed Blood Drive at Infineon Raceway to benefit the American Red Cross. Nearly 425 people braved rainy and windy conditionsto participate. Race fans who agreed to donate a point of blood were treated to a speedy lap around the 12-turn, 2.52-mile road course. The event generated 140 pints of blood, which American Red Cross officials say was a record amount for 2005 based on a one-day event in Northern California. Thanks to all of the Boneheads who participated!

 

imageGEORGE CARLIN SHOW RAISES $3,000 FOR FOOD BANKS
On November 12th, 2006, 107.7 The Bone's Lamont & Tonelli hosted an evening with George Carlin at the Masonic Auditorium in San Francisco. The show was a fundraiser for the Second Harvest Food Banks in San Francisco, San Mateo, and Santa Clara counties. $3,430.00 was raised - that amount will provide 6,854 meals to the local communities. $1 from each ticket sold was donated to the Second Harvest Food Banks. Plus, Lamont & Tonelli held an on-air auction for front row tickets to the show. The auction winner was Paul Pacheco of Tiburon, who bid $600 for the tickets. Thanks Boneheads, for all of your generosity - you rock!
