Jimmy Garoppolo carted off with knee injury, Shanahan fears it’s ACL

A rough afternoon in Kansas City might have taken a disastrous turn.

49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo was carted off the field in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game, after sustaining a left knee injury while making a cut. Garoppolo took a vicious hit near the sideline almost immediately after making the cut, and stayed down for an extended period of time before heading to the medical tent. He was carted off shortly after, and has been officially diagnosed with a “knee injury.”

Garoppolo was reportedly visibly upset on his way to the 49ers locker room, and was seen hopping on one leg down the hallway after being evaluated.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan fears the injury could be serious.

C.J. Beathard took over for Garoppolo after he exited. The 49ers lost 38-27 to fall to 1-2 on the season.
